First Man To Receive Covid Vaccine Dies
The first man to ever receive the experimental Covid-19 vaccine has died, according to media reports.
UK resident William “Bill” Shakespeare, 81, who received the vaccine in December 2020, reportedly died last Thursday, with doctors attributing the death to an “unrelated illness.”
“Bill Shakespeare was only the second person in the world to get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in December at University Hospital Coventry, soon after 91-year-old Margaret Keenan at the same hospital,” reports The Telegraph.
Local officials wasted no time in using Shakespeare’s death to urge others to get vaccinated, saying the “best tribute to Bill is to have the jab.”
Bill’s wife Joy said he was grateful to be among the first offered the jab, which he described as “wonderful.”
“He often talked to people about it and would always encourage everyone to get their vaccine whenever he could,” Joy told the BBC.
